Snappy Simon

Ooh. Simon is feeling snappy. On Thursday night he was involved in a panel discussion about American Idol at the 24th Annual Paley Festival at the Directors Guild of America in West Hollywood and he didn't seem like a happy camper.

"Jennifer Hudson said American Idol was a 'stepping stone' for her. Stepping stone? It was her big opportunity to become noticed and she got noticed and she got Dreamgirls," Cowell said, noting that other past contestants "deliberately turn against the show that made them successful. The reason (people) come on the show is because all the doors had been slammed in their face."

As for Taylor Hicks, who won season 5's competition, "They (Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson) loved him. I couldn't stand him. I didn't get it," Cowell snapped, adding that "at the end of the day you have to find a bona fide recording artist. Just because you win the show doesn't mean you will sell a lot of records. Chris (Daughtry) is the one who sold the albums, not Taylor."

And when it comes to people crying as their competitors get kicked off AI? "Oh, please," he drolled. "My theory is why would you cry if one of your competitors is kicked off? Be delighted. They know the cameras are on. Trust me."

Here I am writing again...a person who could care less about the stars, but the very few shows I do like on the boob tube are "American Idol". Simon really did have a good point with the Jennifer Hudson issue last week when the one singer made comment to that. He said, and not in quote, that American Idol brought Jennifer Hudson here and it was the American (possibly some Canadians :)) audience that voted her off. He may have made comments, but ultimately it was the public.

hate him. hate his shows, and i really do believe that this antichrist among men is the reason that british music is dying on it's arse!
what talent does it take to queue for a few hours, to sing a verse and chorus and then basically do a televised kareoke every week for about 50 weeks until someone finally wins?
there is only one winner in this....that is cowell's bank balance!
maybe he should plough some of his trillions into the poor saps who write thier own music and lyrics and tramp up and down the length of the country playing in every concievable cesspit imaginable, in the vain hope that some record producer wil take pity and sign them up for a 3 album deal!
but i suppose it's easier and more productive for him to have complete control of his artists? either that or to put a "tss tss tss" beat behind an old song, and reap in the money?
sorry. i normally go with what you write, but i think cowell and the like are parasites!

keep up the good work!
